Origin & Lore
Kagura (神楽), meaning “entertainment of the gods,” is the embodiment of ancient Shinto ritual dances. She serves as a bridge between deities and humans, delivering divine messages through dance and music while purifying curses. In games like Onmyoji, she is portrayed as a shrine maiden with immense spiritual power, wielding talismans and commanding shikigami to maintain balance in the mortal world.
Abilities & Legends
In Japanese myth, Kagura dances trace back to the tale of Amaterasu (the sun goddess) hiding in the Ama-no-Iwato cave, where the goddess Ame-no-Uzume lured her out with a dance. Thus, Kagura’s movements can both bless and banish darkness. As a shikigami, she fights with sacred bells and paper seals, healing allies or binding foes with spoken spells. Her gentle yet resolute presence embodies purity and divine protection.
